The Rise of Social Selling in 2015

Consumer Expectations of Retailers Growing Fast, says New Engagement Index

J. Crew, Nike, Marshall’s and TJ Maxx, Walmart, Home Depot, Whole Foods, Amazon.com, Costco, and Dick’s Sporting Goods all captured engagement leadership positions in a challenging retail environment where consumer expectations have increased nearly 24 percent over 2014, according to the Brand keys 2015 Customer Loyalty Engagement Index.

In our 17 years in business, the Gondola Train Company has earned a customer following that proudly represents the most powerful retailers in the world. Working closely in the field with these retailers and their contractors while they remodeled and renovated their stores to keep up with the consumer expectation. We work diligently to develop and produce answers to the day-to-day mobility challenges the major retailers and their contractors face.

Gondola Train Supports Youth Development Initiative

On December  15th, 2014, students from Potosi High School visited Gondola Train for a tour of our warehouse and see how our facility operates day to day. Mike Uppena, the principal and Aaron Cooley, a teacher at Potosi High School, put together a course for students to understand what it takes to be a successful business in the “real world”. The students asked a lot of questions and we enjoyed showing them around the Gondola Train office. Mr. Cooley responded saying “Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to speak to our kids. They were impressed!”

Several people using the Link 4 Mover to move a grocery store shelf.

How do you make something great even better?

Simple, add the missing LINK!

Gondola Train + Aurora Link 4 = Unbeatable capabilities and service.

Gondola Train is proud to announce the acquisition of Aurora Industries and their time tested line of gondola and warehouse racking moving systems, that include the industry workhorse for heavily loaded gondola; the LINK 4  and the Pallet Rack Moving System.

There is not the perfect gondola moving system out there that can meet the diverse challenges to move all styles and brands of gondola, displays, and fixtures safely and efficiently.  So the best option is to partner with a company that has the answers…Gondola Train! If it cannot be moved by utilizing one of our gondola mobility systems, it wasn’t meant to be moved.

We are very excited to add to our family of gondola systems the LINK 4, the Pallet Rack Mover and the Pac Rats in order to provide several mobility solutions to all of our customers. We look forward to working with you today, tomorrow and in the future.

Wynston Estis, of the Willy Street Co-op, Madison, Talks about Gondola Train

Wynston Estis, the Operations Manager for Willy Street Co-op, a Natural Foods Cooperative based in Madison, WI, has been with Willy Street Co-op for 22 years; more than half of the 40 years the company has been in business.

Recently, in an effort to upgrade and enhance the consumer shopping experience, Willy Street Co-op embarked on a major renovation of the 15 year old Willy East retail landmark at 1221 Williamson St. The goal of this ambitious project was to remodel approximately 90% of the interior 9,500 sq. ft. store floor space in a 10 month period; to be completed by the end of August 2014.

The first assignment was to completely remove and replace the existing flooring which showed all the scars of years of heavy foot and cart traffic. How does a retailer safely move aside 310 feet in 8 aisles of fully stocked shelving in a confined space in a short period of time during only the hours when the store is closed , 10 p.m. to 2-4 a.m.? Deep breath – who you gonna call? Gondola Train! The Gondola Train staff came to Willy East to assess the needs with Wynston and her staff. Gondola Train and WSC both believe in preparation first. Together, they were able to determine the exact needs of the project.

Gondola Train is also a Wisconsin-based (Potosi, WI) company who manufactures shelving moving systems designed to do exactly what Willy Street Co-op needed to do; raise and move entire sections of fully loaded shelving.

Gondola Train has been in business for 18 years, and has a history of providing safe, simple and speedy shelving moving systems for retailers. The Gondola Train charter of Made In America products from a Wisconsin-based Company, aligned perfectly with the WSC charter of partnering with local companies that offer fair wages in a safe environment.

Gondola Train products have been tested and approved for safety by Lozier, the leading manufacturer of retail gondola shelving products in North America. Gondola Train, in conjunction with Lozier, has produced a written and video training safety-first manual which were reviewed by Wynston and the WSC team many times prior to the actual move. They met repeatedly; discussed and practiced moving one 4 ft. section of shelving in a back room before the actual “Showtime”. As Estis stated, ”My team sets a very high bar; I’m not going to take any risks”. The Willy East staff separated their long runs of shelving into 12 and 16 foot lengths. Most of the fully-merchandised sections were moved four times; moved and moved back; to accommodate installing new flooring. Every shelf in the store was moved without having one accident; a tribute to the preparation and plan set in place by Estis and her team.

The perfect match of business and work ethics between Willy Street Co-op and Gondola Train has thus far been a great partnership. Judge for yourself at the Re-Grand Opening of the Willy Street Co-op on September 13-14.

The Power of the Pac Rat Moving System!

The three fixtures used in the Pac Rat Gondola skates.

We would like to thank Dale at the VA Medical Center for the compliment given to us.

“I have used this equipment; and I must say the skates (Pac Rats) were a great help in completing our task.  We had these 400 lb. walk in freezers; which we could not lay down and put back in operation right away.  By standing them upright on the skates (Pac Rats), we were able to move them into place.  Not losing any operation time or damage to the equipment.”
